For a few months now, I’ve been using NYX Butter Lipstick Fizzies BLS21 every once in a while. I believe I bought it before the holiday season, but haven’t had the chance to write my review on it yet. Until today.
What NYX has to say about their Butter Lipstick
Pamper your lips with a hydrating kiss of smooth Butter Lipstick in 22 luxurious shades. The delicate texture of satin fused with the high color saturation creates an even finish on lips that’s long-wearing and beautiful.
- WHAT IT IS: Full coverage lipstick that feels like it melts onto the lips.
- WHAT IT DOES: Adds a pop of color to lips.
- WHY WE LOVE IT: This lightweight formula is non-sticky and deposits high impact color with just one stroke.
- HOW TO USE: Apply directly on bare lips or over lip liner/primer for more pigmentation.
Overview
NYX Butter Lipstick in Fizzies BLS21 is classified as a rose pink. It’s a light medium pink with a hint of red in it. I was surprised that it has shimmers because I didn’t notice it when I swatched it at the store. Blame it on store lighting!
I think one of the reasons why it’s called “butter lipstick” is because it does smell like butter. Lol! Seriously, though, its scent is a whole lot better than the fragrance of NYX Round lipsticks. Apply this lipstick on your lips, grab a toast, and you’ve got a quick breakfast of bread and butter.
NYX Butter Lipstick Fizzies BLS21 Swatches
NYX Fizzies Butter Lipstick is a bit sheer, but the color is buildable. However, you still can’t achieve a fully opaque coverage even with multiple layers of this lip color. Some of the natural lip color still peeks through.
In the arm swatch above, you’ll notice that it’s a little bit on the sheer side. With 3 swipes, it’s almost opaque but still not quite full coverage.
It has a shimmery, pearl finish but the texture is very smooth and creamy. Fizzies applies easily and glides on the lips without tugging. It doesn’t settle into lip lines and doesn’t accentuate mildly chapped lips. However, if your lips are extremely dry, you might want to exfoliate and moisturize first.
Performance and features: NYX Butter Lipstick Fizzies BLS21
For pigmented lips, applying a lip concealer or lip liner underneath NYX Fizzies is recommended. Especially if you don’t want your natural lip color to peek through.
If your only concern is feathering, then you will not need to apply a lip liner. Even though BLS21 has a creamy formula, it doesn’t slide around the lips nor does it feather or bleed.
Fizzies Butter Lipstick feels a bit slick, like you’ve got real butter on your lips. It even tastes like real butter! This is one of the things I don’t like about it. I want my lipstick to be lightweight, and I want it to feel like I have no lipstick on.

On my lips, it doesn’t look too shimmery. The micro shimmers just give it a juicy, short of glossy, appearance. It doesn’t make my teeth appear yellowish despite Fizzies being slightly warm-toned.
This NYX Butter lipstick is not drying on the lips and even feels a bit moisturizing. Its longevity is decent enough, especially for a creamy lipstick. It lasts around 4 to 5 hours on my lips, and leaves a bit of stain.
After eating and drinking, only a bit of stain is left so reapplication is definitely a must. But the important thing is it’s not drying on the lips at all.
