Another lipstick that I bought from the MAC Wash & Dry Collection is Steam Heat. This review is really late, I know, but I still want to share my thoughts on this Limited Edition lipstick.
To be honest, I’m not sure why I bought yet another red lipstick from MAC when I’ve still got several in my stash. Just plain C-R-A-Z-Y!

MAC Steam Heat lipstick is classified as a vivid yellow red. It’s a thing to note that this is not as orangey as MAC Lady Danger.
So if you’re one of those who really want to try Lady Danger but shy away from its brightness, then this is definitely the one for you.
MAC Steam Heat Lipstick Swatches
It’s not very yellow when swatched on the arm. Especially when swatched beside Lady Danger (you can see the comparison swatches at the near end of this post). But you will see that it’s still warm-toned.
MAC Steam Heat is pigmented enough that one swipe gives a semi-opaque coverage. Build it up with a swipe or 2 more and you’ve got full, opaque coverage.

Formula
It has a satin formula which I really love. Steam Heat feels smooth and applies easily on the lips. You won’t have any problems applying it directly on the lips, but if you want a precise lip line, then do use a lip liner first or apply the lipstick with a lip brush.
In my experience, I found that it can be a bit drying if the lips are not properly prepped. It can also accentuate chapped and flaky lips.
So, before you enjoy this goodness, remember to exfoliate and moisturize the lips well first.
Personal Experience
On my lips, MAC Steam Heat is a more yellow and shiny version of MAC Ruby Woo. You might already know that I prefer matte lipsticks to shiny ones, but there are days when I go for these luminous and shiny ones as well.
This will cover even the most pigmented lips out there. As you can see in the lip swatches above, not a single pixel of my pigmented lips can be seen through. All good and covered up! Lasts a long time, too! I get around 5 to 6 hours of wear time from this wonderful lipstick.

I know that the shades can’t be considered as dupes of Steam Heat, but I just wanted to compare them to these MAC red lipsticks that I currently own.
The other Wash & Dry lipstick shades aside from Steam Heat are:
Crème d’Nude (Light beige pink nude – Cremesheen)
Tumble Dry (Light peachy coral – Lustre)
Morange (Vivid orange – Amplified Creme)
All four shades are already sold out at MAC’s online store. But this shade is still available at Nordstrom as of posting, as well as Morange and Tumble Dry. Morange was out of stock when I posted my review on it, but it’s now miraculously available again.

Final Words
The Wash & Dry Tinted lipglass that you can pair with Steam Heat is Hot/Cold which is a true red. I didn’t buy Hot/Cold lipglass, though. Instead, I use Girl On Board lipglass (review coming up soon, I hope!) only at the center of my lips to make it appear fuller.
